The beautiful and historic city of Bologna, Italy, was the proud host of the 77th World OMEP Assembly and Conference in July 2025. This prestigious event brought together over 600 participants from more than 50 countries, all united by a common goal – the promotion of quality early childhood education, inclusion, sustainability, and the rights of the child.
OMEP Nigeria, led by its National President Professor Adefunke Ekine, was ably represented by a delegation of eight participants. Professor Ekine contributed meaningfully to the conference by presenting a poster session on gender-based violence and its impact on children, drawing attention to a critical global issue.
In addition, Mrs Oyinda Sonola, the immediate past National Secretary of OMEP Nigeria, conducted a hands-on workshop on sustainable development, equipping attendees with practical tools and strategies for promoting sustainability in early years settings.
The conference was a truly enriching experience marked by knowledge sharing, international collaboration, and cultural exchange. Delegates returned home inspired, motivated, and more deeply committed to improving the lives of young children everywhere.
We look forward to the 78th World OMEP Conference, which will be held in Poland in 2026 – a continued journey of learning, partnership, and progress.
